Test your endurance and help the turtles with Jekyll Island’s “Turtle Crawl”
Exercise has benefits such as increased heart health, lower risk for disease, and lower stress levels. When it comes to setting goals, it’s always best to have an ‘end date’ in mind- if you’re looking to get healthier this year, why not set a goal to run on the weekend of May 14th on the beautiful Jekyll Island?
For beginners, intermediate, or triathlon-level athletes, the “Turtle Crawl” on Jekyll Island has something fit for everyone’s needs. You can choose between a 5k, 10k, or a triathlon to train for.
The ‘Turtle Crawl’ benefits Georgia’s sea turtle center, an organization whose goal is to educate on sea turtles, provide rehabilitation, and research. The center is even located on Jekyll Island, so you can visit the center before or after your run to learn more about the turtles you’re helping!
Registration for this event closes on May 9th, and with your registration the donation to the sea turtle center is already included. Other benefits include a race t-shirt (if you register before April 9th), a goodie bag, food after the race, and photos of the event for you to enjoy!
This is the perfect time to register for the event and get started running now. In working for this goal, you not only benefit others, but yourself, as you exercise and make friends during the event who love running, and sea turtles, just as much as you!
Don’t worry about being the fastest or the best runner out there- just do your best and know that you’re helping others along the way!
With the beautiful location, incredible weather, and helping a great cause, the “Turtle Run” is an event you can’t miss. Contact us today to find out more about the Islands, and if this is a place you want to call home!
