St. Simons real estate is attractive to sporty people of all types.
It’s within an easy drive of Coastal Georgia’s best fishing tournaments, sporting clays, golf courses, tennis courts, Olympic-size pools and bicycle trails. Plus, it is a great place to enjoy sports that aren’t necessarily in everyone’s wheelhouse.
Which sports are those? For starters, how about playing pickleball?
It’s a sport that dates back to the mid 60s, when Pacific Coast residents were anxious to try something new. Over the years, love of the innovative sport eventually made its way to Coastal Georgia. So now, visitors and St. Simons real estate owners only have to make their way to Kings Park to find groups of pickleball enthusiasts. It’s over on Mallery Street, which is a short distance from DeLoach Sotheby’s International Realty.
The park’s two courts are close to another sports complex as well as Pier Village. Thus, the pickleball faithful are never without access to refreshments, sports gear, public restrooms and relaxing places to strategize their next moves.
But we digress; let’s get back to the park’s pickleball game itself. It’s a standing one that’s typically held, weather permitting, every Saturday morning.
Those that wish to engage in watching or playing with fellow fans should ideally be at the park by 8 a.m., although game play normally doesn’t start until 9 p.m.
The extra hour leeway should be enough time to beat tourist traffic and find a convenient parking spot near the courts. And if there is still time to kill before the game, we suggest walking though Pier Village. There are breakfast spots that serve great cups of coffee and morning fare.
