St. Simons Real Estate 2012 Summer VIPs, Local Heroes & Upticks
The dog days of summer haven’t slowed down activities along the Golden Isles of Georgia — while bring more focus to the St. Simons real estate market.
St. Simons Real Estate Gains Famous Exposure
Former president Bill Clinton took some time to golf and relax recently on Sea Island. As a premier real estate company that serves this marketplace, DeLoach Sotheby’s International Realty enjoys the publicity and recognition that celebrities and other famous bring to our coastal Georgia community when they visit.Â
Clinton becomes the seventh U.S. president to take part in the time-honored tradition of planting an oak on the island.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution:
“The planting of a live oak, the state tree of Georgia and the symbol for strength, has been a meaningful way to commemorate special guests of the resort since President Calvin Coolidge visited Sea Island in 1928.â€
The region is also celebrating the recent victory by it’s local resident Gordon Strother at The Championship at Woodside Plantation by three shots. And on the food front, the Golden Isles chapter of the American Culintary Federation captured the bronze medal in the recent ACF Student National Championship in Orlando.
More Signs the St. Simons Real Estate Market Remains Strong
According to the Florida Times-Union, a company that owns property near the Village Creek boat ramp — one of the only free public boat ramps on the island — wants to see that boat launch site upgraded.
The company also plans to renovate a nearby parking lot by putting in a general store, seafood restaurant and new parking site. Other parts of the environentally-friendly site would be developed for single-family homes.
No matter the time of year, it’s always a good time to buy St. Simons real estate and Sea Island real estate. The region’s housing market is improving.
Ken Fears, an economist with the National Association of Realtors says local “foot traffic” — that is, the number of times a house on the market is visited by a potential buyer — was up 14% this past June, compared to the same time in 2011.
