With all of the recent headlines featuring St. Simons and Sea Island real estate’s famous PGA athletes, one would think that it was already fall 2014. That’s typically when The McGladrey Classic takes place on our lovely Golden Isles. However, as well all know, the fall is a long ways away.
So why are we seeing so much St. Simons and Sea Island real estate hubbub right now? The answer is the Masters Tournament. It took place in Augusta during the second week of April 2014. That caused sports pundits all across the Peach State to start talking about how beautiful and popular Sea Island real estate is with golfers.
One of the media outlets that joined in on the Coastal Georgia love fest was the Athens Banner-Herald. Their sports writer, David Westin, was quick to point out all of the current and former pros that already call our islands home. Just a few of the men on Westin’s list were Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Harris English and Lucas Glover.
Of course we don’t blame Westin and the other Peach State sports pundits for wearing their love of St. Simons and Sea Island real estate on their sleeves. We adore the area’s great properties, Southern hospitality and golf courses too.
