Exploratory Saint Simons Real Estate Enthusiasts
For those adventurous types who want to see exactly where their shellfish originate, a trip aboard the Lady Jane will provide hours of enjoyment. This vessel that is designed specifically for shrimping is certified by the United States Coast Guard, and can carry up to 49 passengers. She spent many years in the shrimping industry, and now has been reconditioned as a passenger boat. Guests will enjoy the open decks that are perfect for appreciating the surrounding beauty, along with a comfortable cabin complete with air conditioning and restroom.
The Lady Jane patrols the calm waters around St. Simon Sound hauling in catches of shrimp that will be prepared for her guests by the first mate. The marine biologists on the ship welcome those who want to assist in sorting the shellfish from other sea life such as Sand shark, Horseshoe crabs, Whiting and Blue crab. Learn about the sea creatures of the Atlantic, or simply enjoy a few hours on the water while seeing how your seafood dinner makes it from ocean to plate.
To have a wonderful memory of your time on a shrimper, get a photo taken at the helm with Captain Larry E. Credle. He is a Marine Surveyor, serves in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and comes from a long line of seagoing relatives. His expert piloting of the Lady Jane is from experience gained running a commercial fishing boat as well as the building and repair of sea vessels. The nets used by the shrimper must be equipped with Turtle Excluder Devices, developed to release any turtles and other big sea creatures. On the occasion that a sea turtle makes it into a net, the captain is required to photograph, measure and weigh the animal before releasing it back into the water. The opportunity to see these large sea animals close-up is a delight for Saint Simons real estate owners and their guests.
