There are so many things to love about owning a piece of real estate on St Simons.
Access to incredible summer concerts and special events are just a few of them. Here’s a closer look at some of the ones typically on offer:
During the summer, oceanfront concerts are often held at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center. It is a beautiful 10,000 square-foot facility that is connected to the region’s acclaimed lighthouse. The concerts typically run from May through September and include artists from a multitude of genres. For example, a renowned Irish folksinger is scheduled to perform in August 2013 and a Motown concert is planned for September 2013. Modestly priced tickets are generally available at the gate.
The A.W. Jones Heritage Center is not the only place to listen to live music either. Many of the island’s restaurants, parks and attractions also tend to host musical events as well. Just a few to consider attending are Latin jazz at Neptune Park and Second Sundays at Gascoigne Bluff.
Both are great places for families because of the area’s amenities. Take Neptune Park for example. It features superior views, a picnic area, water park, pool, miniature golf course and a playground.
Gascoigne Bluff, on the other hand, is also home to a fishing pier, disc golf course, paved fitness trail, restrooms and a picnic pavilion. The Second Sunday program runs year-round and tends to take place from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. The program typically includes music, door prizes and activities for the kids.
In the fall, the bluff is also the site of a popular event known as the St. Simons Food & Spirits Festival. This year’s festival is expected to take place in early October. It is a wonderful place to sample regional foods and wines while checking out area artists. Sometimes cooking classes are offered during the event as well.
