Just in time for Valentine’s Day 2014, stunning examples of French art will be touching down on Saint Simons real estate for everyone to enjoy. It’s all part of a month long special event scheduled to take place at one of the island’s art galleries.
The venue hosting the French art exhibit is the Left Bank Art Gallery. For those that have never been there before, it is located on Frederica Road.
The exhibit is titled Joie de Vivre: New French Paintings and its slated to run through March. The French artists whose work will be on display are what make this admission free exhibit so wonderful. Two of the notable, contemporary artists are Jean-Pierre Dubord and Yolande Ardissone.
Jean-Pierre Dubord is well known among present day art circles for his uncanny ability to create impressionist style magic with lighting techniques.
Many of his oil paintings feature French landscapes and seascapes. Over the years, he has exhibited at numerous locations around the world including the Salon de la Marine and the Salon des Independents. He’s also been the recipient of coveted awards like the Gold Medal of Ville de Rueil Malmaison and 1st place at the Ville de Canteleu. Among his list of original paintings are works titled The Rouen Cathedral, Le Port de Doelan, Les Bateaux Echoues and Les Jardin Maraichers.
Yolande Ardissone has also had her share of exhibits and awards.
Her work is often on display at French museums and American auction houses as well. Like Dubord, she is known to paint in an Impressionist style and focus on both landscapes and seascapes. However, her works have elements reminiscent of masters like Van Gogh, Monet and Gauguin. In addition, Ardissone’s paintings sometimes feature human subjects and building interiors. Her collection of art includes titles like Empress Josephine, Les Grands Pins, Femmes de Bali, Village Scene and the City Garden.
