An Eco-Lecture Series is Taking Place on Saint Simons Real Estate This Summer
In earlier blogs, we mentioned some of the great outdoor activities that are available to people who live on, or visit, St. Simons Island. What we didn’t talk about was the upcoming eco-lectures at Village Creek Landing. It’s a section of Saint Simons real estate that’s located on South Harrington Road and it’s home to a place called The Preserve.
The Preserve is expected to host an entire series of eco-lectures throughout the coming weeks. At this point, a new one kicks off every third Tuesday at 5 p.m. The first hour is anticipated to be spent enjoying cocktails and conversation with fellow attendees. The lectures, which are of varying duration, typically follow. Advance reservations are needed for each lecture series event and admission fees start at $10 per person.
Among the list of topics to be discussed during the series are right whale research, sea turtles, rain water harvesting and water conservation.
If you do decide to go, think about extending your trip with one of the venue’s other outdoor activities. They include professionally guided kayak trips, self-guided kayak trips, intimate eco-cruises and fishing charters. The two hour eco-cruises are exceptionally enjoyable. They take place aboard a 6-passenger, Hurricane Deck boat and usually pass by three places that are beloved by many (Sea Island, St. Simons Island and Little St. Simon’s Island).
Just in case you’ve not heard of Little St. Simon’s Island before, it is actually a private section of real estate that’s only reachable by boat. Many consider it to be a wildlife sanctuary. So as you pass by the islands, you are apt to see more than 200 species of birds alone. If you are lucky, you may also spy dolphins, sea turtles and European fallow deer in the general area.
