3 Tips for Maintaining Your Sea Island Vacation Home

Many people balk at the idea of owning a Sea Island vacation home because of the upkeep involved. Not only are you going to have to take care of things in your primary home but also in your vacation home. This includes maintenance, cleaning, stocking up etc.

Every home is going to need some maintenance now and then, in terms of plumbing, electrical fittings, carpentry work etc. And it’s also important to keep your vacation home clean if you want to enjoy being there over the weekends or whenever you get the chance to take a few days off.

Here are some tips to help you maintain your sea island vacation home:

1.) Maintenance

It’s a good idea to get the number of a good handyman who can take care of all your maintenance needs. It may be hard to find such a person but if you know someone like this, then it’s good to develop a relationship with them so that you can call them whenever necessary. If you can’t find one person who can take care of all the maintenance issues, then you’ll have to find a good plumber, electrician and carpenter in the sea island area. The benefit of keeping your vacation home in good condition is that if you plan to resell it, you’ll be able to get a good price.

2.) Cleaning

You can hire someone to clean your vacation home once a week, even if you’re not around, as this will make sure that the house is clean when you go there on the weekends. If the house is not cleaned regularly, then it might become very dusty and you won’t be comfortable there when you go for the weekend. Of course, you can also do the cleaning yourself, but most people don’t want to bother with all that when they’re taking the weekend off. Make sure you go with a reputable cleaning agency or give the job to someone you trust so that they’ll continue to clean even in your absence.

3.) Stocking Up

You can always keep your vacation home stocked with things that are not perishable, such as tea, coffee, salt, canned goods etc. Then you’ll just need to take some perishable items when you go there for the weekend. But remember not to leave anything in the vacation home for too long because it might expire. It’s always best to take what you need when you go there for the weekend. And if you don’t want to bother with too much cooking, there are a number of restaurants that you can go to in the sea island area.
